Ehtezaz
I wish I owned a thousand worlds and gave it to fake conquerors as a gift!
In English, there is no expressive equivalent for Ehtezaz. It means something like the proud waving of a flag. These paintings criticize the redundant use of flags and light bulbs in the city streets in Iran. Recently, the increasing flags in the cities have dazzled my eyes. These flags take appropriate colors on religious and ideological occasions per the calendar. It is as if the flags are to compensate for the damaged legitimacy of the sovereignty: The proud waving of flags represents a false glory. The insanity of raising flags everywhere is the insanity of conquest. I wish I owned a thousand worlds and gave it to those fake conquerors as a gift!
